Aurora at Lake Pueblo 11-11-25
The intense Coronal Mass Ejections that shot toward Earth in the days and weeks before this night had weakened our planet’s magnetosphere and created perfect conditions to let some of that beautiful excited atomic oxygen get through our usually stout defenses to be seen as far south as Texas and Florida. Here in Pueblo, Colorado at the northern edge of the 38th parallel, the show was spectacular and probably a once in a lifetime event.
I put these images in the order they were shot so you can see the progression of the auroras throughout the night. Most are multi-portrait panoramas using my Nikon D850 and my Nikkor 14-24mm f 2.8.

One of my favorite trees backlit in a way that I’ll likely never see again, and with a huge bonus meteorite. 45mp 16” x 24”
